Merlot and Syrah, these are the foundation that Two Vintners is set upon, with a firm belief that these two varietals are the best that Washington has to offer. Merlot was one of our three original wines and continues to be part of the core of Two Vintners. Every year we strive to produce a Merlot that shows the ability of Washington to make Merlot that is on par with the best in the world.
For the 2016 vintage we reached outside the Walla Walla Valley and sourced this from five different vineyards. While Pepper Bridge vineyard does make up the bulk of this wine we are more and more excited about the Merlot coming out of our Yakima Valley sources. The Merlot was aged in 50% new French oak & 50% once used, for 22 months until bottling.

94 points - Jeb Dunnuck (2014) - "The 2014 Merlot, which includes 5% each of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, sports a deep ruby/purple color as well as a great bouquet of plums, black cherries, tobacco, and graphite. This full-bodied, spicy, opulent, sexy beauty has no hard edges, a mouthfilling texture and a great finish. It's no lightweight (15.2% alcohol) but is beautifully balanced, supple, and just impossible to resist."
